The Lady Pioneers came out on top this morning in their opening round match against previously unbeaten Owensboro Catholic by a final of 52-40. The Lexington Catholic event is one of the best tourneys in the state that draws several teams that will be contending for state titles. SK came out shooting hot as Chelsea Tolliver connected on several three balls. SK stretched the lead out to 11 points but went into half-time with a 6 point lead. The defensive effort was stronger in the second half for SK as OC found tough sledding to score. The Pioneers played clutch down the stretch to hold on for the win. Tolliver finished with 24 points and Caitlyn Figgins scored 10.
Things will get tough tomorrow on SK as they play one of the top ranked teams and defending state champion Louisville Butler at 1:00.
