SK Lady Pioneers Beat Braves

The Lady Pioneers hosted the Grant County Braves in 32nd District Action tonight at the Joe. This was the final regular season meeting between the two schools. The Lady Pioneers run their district record to 5-0 with a 70-42 blowout. SK jumped out early and often as Grant County just didn’t have enough to keep up with SK. Leslie Garnett had a nice game for Grant but just didn’t have enough help to overcome the Pioneers.

The three guard line-up of Conley, Tolliver and Farris all posted strong games. Tolliver led all scorers with 19 and Conley and Farris each had 16. SK’s outside game was strong as Smith, Conley, Tolliver, Farris and Wainscott all connected from the distance line.

The JV game provided a little more excitement. The JV ‘Eers trailed by a half-time score of 24-11 and were having trouble getting into synch. The Lady Pioneers turned it up in the second half and held Grant County to just 4 second half points and won the game by a final of 30-28. SK was led in scoring by Nikki Brown with 10 and the Blur with 8 points coming off several steals and transition baskets. Freshman Kristen Pace also posted a nice game with some nice rebounding and key buckets.

SK’s next game originally scheduled with Dixie for Monday has been moved to Tuesday.
