The Lady Pioneers soccer team sufferred their first loss of the season at the hands of the St. Henry Lady Crusaders in Kenton County Cup action. The score at half-time was 1-1. Senior Keeper Annie Hamm had several nice saves to keep the score knotted at the half. The Pioneers played ball control for most of the game but couldn't capitalize on some nice crosses and several shots. The Cru went on a run in the second half on a through ball that turned into a breakaway and a set play off a direct kick; both plays resulting in St. H goals. SK controlled the ball for the majority of the second half and had several shots bounce off the goal posts and the St. Henry keeper. The Lady Pioneers hope to bounce back on Saturday when they take on Notre Dame Academy.
Junior Striker Shay Nienaber puts the ball in play for SK.

Sophomore striker Krista Russell puts the lone goal in the net off a header off a Cagle cross.

Marie Cooper gives cous Russell a pat on the back as they wait to enter the match.

This picture sums up the Pioneers second half as Russell's shot bounces off the right side of the crossbar late in the second half.

Must be those holes in her shoes that help her run so fast? Superfast frosh Allie Ponzer.
Please let's not ignore the JV squad, now 2-0, with a one goal shutout of Dixie, followed by a well-played 2-1 defeat of the Cru's junior squad.
