One of my FCA friends told me of the time that he inadvertently found himself shooting at the wrong goal during a middle school basketball game. The sad thing was that his cousin, on the opposing team, kept trying to block his shot! All this despite fans of both teams yelling instructions to both of them!
The game of life can get pretty fast-paced at times and it
is easy to become disoriented. We find ourselves at the wrong goal,
trying desperately to make a shot which would only score points for the
opposing team.
God's Word can have that kind of "reorienting"
effect on our lives.
"Listen my son, to a father's instruction; pay
attention and gain understanding." (Proverbs 4:1)
So the next time you are in a gym, ask yourself if you are
heading in the right direction. Let God's Word turn you around if
correction is needed.
