SK won their opening round playoff game tonight against
Bryan Station by a final score of 29-22.
The Defenders entered the game 6-4.
SK got on the board first with just over two minutes to go
in the first quarter with an Andrew Sampson 4 yard touchdown. The two point conversion was overruled due
to an illegal procedure call. Station
would take their first lead in the second after a field goal and a touchdown with
an extra point fail. Sampson would put SK back on top right before
half with a 5 yard touchdown. The two point
conversion would be good to give SK the 14-9 half-time lead.
Station would reclaim the lead with under two minutes to go
in the third with another touchdown followed by a failed extra point.
Jared Bowling would get a touchdown score with 10 ½ in the
fourth. The two point conversion would
be good this time and SK goes up by 22-15.
The Defenders would tie the score at 22 after a 48 yard pass play. SK would get the winning score on a Brenan
Kuntz to Grant Wassom 18 yard scoring strike with 4:42 left in the game. Kuntz would finish the game 10-12 and 109
yards, 58 of which went to Wassom. Sampson
would finish with a solid 141 yards on 32 attempts.
SK will play Campbell County in round 2. The Camels beat SK earlier this year on a
late scoring drive and two point conversion by a final of 29-28 snapping the
Neers 6 game win streak.
