The senior laden Neer boys team took to the field first
versus Anderson County. SK came out with
a high level of energy and popped 3 first half goals on the scoreboard. The Neers would add their 4th goal
in the second half before the Bearcats would add their first goal. SK quickly answered the Bearcat goal to go
out to a 5-1 lead. Striker/Placekicker/Punter/Infielder
Tyler Smith would lead the SK charge with 3 goals. Mitchell O’Hara would get the other two goals
while assisting Smith on two of his hat
trick scores. SK finished their first
winning season since 2003.
The girls team hosted the South Oldham Dragons in the
nightcap. The Dragons were once the
class of the state as they multiple state titles in the early 2000’s. The girls seemed to bring some nice intensity
as the game got going. Teams traded
possessions and SK got a couple of corner kicks that gave them some awesome
scoring chances. The ball just wouldn’t
bounce SK’s way as the Dragons got on the board with one first half goal. SK had some decent possessions in the second
half but just couldn’t score while the Dragons added two more scores late in
the second half to win by a final of 3-0. This was one of those soccer games
where the game was much closer than the score.
