The Pioneers started off slow against the Rocket zone. Shelby gave SK the outside shot and it wasn’t really falling. SK then started to work the ball off of different sets and started getting buckets and started to pull away. The Pioneers would pull out by a 10 point margin in the first half but Shelby was able to trim the lead to 25-21 at half-time. SK would extend their lead to 9 at the end of the third. It was the 4th quarter where the SK offense would get with it as they outscored Shelby 30-19 in the last frame.
SK was led in scoring by Nikki Brown with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Wainscott scored 19 points on the strength of 8 for 8 foul shooting.
The Blue Swarm Defense would force 16 Rocket turnovers as Sydni Wainscott and Alli Ponzer posted 5 and 4 steals respectively. More importantly, the defense would hold Shelby to a miserable 12 for 46 shooting for 26%.
Congrats Lady Neers on reaching the finals once again. I hope the Joe is packed with SK supporters tomorrow night to support the Lady Neers and help the girls get back to Diddle once again! Good Luck
WOW!!!! What a nice crowd. With two local schools playing tonight, the Joe was as packed as I have seen in a long, long time. Great to see the support for girls basketball.
Brown found some space on the baseline against the Dixie zone. She got fouled here.
Pace fights for a loose ball here.
Alli Ponzer gets fouled hard.
Stephenson goes up as fans in the packed Joe look on.
Good sign when the coaches can have a seat.
Morrison with the acrobatic bucket.
