The Lady Pioneers kicked off District play tonight with a 57-37 win against Williamstown. The win secures a bid in the 8th Region Tourney for the fifth consecutive year. The Neers started slowly although they held an 11-7 lead after the first. Things would get rolling in the second quarter as SK outscored Williamstown 19-3 to lead by 30-10 at half-time. SK cruised during the second half as every player who made the trip on Bus 18 got into the game. Alli Ponzer led SK with 21 points and a strong defensive effort.
The finals of the 32nd District will be on Thursday at 7:00 at Walton versus Walton. The SK girls have never lost in 32nd District play dating back to the 2005-06 season. The regional final with Walton will be a tough one as the teams played two thrilling games during the regular season.
