The Lady Pioneers traveled to Union tonight for a regional match-up against the Ryle Raiders. The Raiders have become quite a rivalry over the past few seasons as the teams have faced each other in hard fought regular season and tournament games. The Lady Pioneers came into the game tonight struggling to score as they had only notched two goals in the first four games. The girls didn’t waste any time tonight as they scored within the first two minutes of the game as Aris Kuntz knocked in a ricochet goal from a corner kick put in the box by Jessie Cooper. SK would go up 2-0 before half as Amy Wing found the back of the net after a cross from Ali Ponzer. Ryle came out with more intensity in the second half and was able to take advantage in the possession department and score a goal to draw within a goal. Katie Zapf was able to give the Pioneers some breathing room as she knocked in another ball that was bouncing around the penalty area. Ali Ponzer connected on a long range goal for the final scoring of the night. Ashley Repka turned in a strong night between the posts and had several key saves for SK.
