Now the games, the Freshman girls were rained out at Scott last night. The Freshman boys played today and went down to the Eagles. The JV girls from SK handled the Eagles with little problem by a final of 6-0. The boys team lost a heartbreaker by a final of 2-1 in the closing seconds of the match.
The varsity girls put together one of their best games of the year by taking the Eagles by a surprising final score of 6-1. A host of Pioneers scored tonight. Going on memory, Bri Marti, Krista Russell, Jessie Cooper, Chelsea Landrum, Kelsey Abel, and Jillian Russell all netted goals for the Pioneers.
In varsity boys action, the Pioneers played one of their best games of the season and came away with the 2-0 shutout of the Eagles. Senior Chris Hahnel said after the game that the victory was the first boys varsity victory in President’s Cup in approximately 6 years. The score at half-time was 0-0. In back in forth action, it was starting to look like this one was going to end up in PK’s. Suddenly, Cody Hutchins took a cross after a throw-in and cashed in for the first SK goal as he drove the ball crashing in from the right side. Senior Andy Dickerson rocketed a direct kick in from about 25 yards out for the insurance goal. Dickerson’s shot was hit with a nasty topspin that handcuffed the Scott keeper. There was a lot of excitement on the Pioneer sideline as the boys gave Coach Wolfe the traditional Gatorade Cooler shower. The boys played smart, strong and poised consistently throughout the match.
Congratulations to the boys and girls varsity teams from SK on awesome games today. You deserved the Cups!
Some pics from the girls game...
Think soccer can put a little stress on the knees? Look at the Scott player's knee in the top photo. It goes back to normal in the bottom photo. Click on pictures for larger views. Kind of gross though. Once on the Flickr site, click on the All Sizes Link above the picture.

Guess the wearer of the footwear. Answers below:
From top to bottom: Stacy Lankheit, Lyndsay Figgins, Scott's Shelby Benzinger and the shiniest shoes I have seen on a referee.
Dude:
Able to get by.
Scott's only goal came off of this direct free kick out of the reach of Lankheit.
