Quick Start Advances Lady Pioneers

The Lady Pioneers travelled to Conner High School for another beautiful night of soccer. (I am starting to sound like a broken record.) There weren’t a great number of fans that turned out for this titanic battle. As a matter of fact, it was probably the smallest crowd I have seen for a varsity soccer contest although there were a few people watching from the bus parking lot and from lawn chairs behind the scoreboard.

SK didn’t take long to dent the scoreboard. Just 17 seconds into the match, Krista Russell played a beautifully placed ball across the box that Briana Marti knocked in for a score. Krisata would knock the next goal in from about 20 yards out on the diagonal left side just a few minutes later for a 2-0 score. That’s the way the first half ended. SK came out in the second half and was a little flat. Conner had some of their best possession of the game before Krista would add her second goal of the night. Jessie Cooper capped off the scoring with a ball past the keeper who had cut down the angle just a tad too late. SK advances their record to the winning side of the ledger for the first time this season as they are now 6-5-2.

SK travels to the Kentucky Lake Region this weekend to take on Ohio County, Marshall County and Lone Oak at the Lady Marshall Invitational. SK has a formidable task as Ohio County is currently 8th in the state rankings with an 8-1 record and Marshall County is ranked 12th with a 6-2-1 record. Lone Oak is currently 5-6-1.
