The boys soccer team took Community Field tonight after their District game with the Villa Madonna Blue Lightning was moved to Indy. For the second night in a row, the scoreboard failed to register a goal for either team. As a matter of fact, the game almost looked like a mirror image of last night’s girls game against Dixie. This game might not have been as one-sided as the girl’s game last night but there was no doubt that the SK boys possessed the ball for more of the second half, had more shots on goal and more set play opportunities. The first half was more closely contested but whatever Coach Wolfe said at half-time definitely had an effect on the Pioneers’ effort. Junior Sam Benner left the game at half with a sore back. He was replaced by Freshman Austin Cagle who preserved the shutout.
For whatever reason, the new turf has not been kind to the offense of the Pioneer soccer teams.
