The girls team handled the Bulldogs with little trouble by a final score of 6-0. Tip of the Pioneer cap to the Dogs who came out and played hard and put up a good fight.
The boys team played at home on Community Field. The last two games at the field saw goose eggs across the scoreboard. Tonight was quite the opposite of the scoring drought we have seen. The Pioneers fall by a final score of 6-5 in a see-saw game that ended on the downside for the home team. It looked like SK was going to come away with a tie when Chris Hahnel knocked a bouncing ball in the net with less than 2 minutes to go. Unfortuanately, the lead didn’t hold up when Calvary netted a goal with less than 15 seconds to go in the match. The other SK goals came from Tyler Blau and Andy Dickerson who each came up with two.
The boys and girls teams will be playing against Scott in Independence Soccer Club President’s Cup action this weekend. The freshman girls get things started tomorrow night at Scott. The rest of the games will take place on Saturday at SK.
One of the focuses of the festivities will be collecting items for a Tyler Smith’s dad (a SK player) who is on a tour of duty in Iraq. Anyone who brings in a donation for the care packages that will be sent to Iraq will receive a $1 off gate admission. Cash will also be collected for shipping purposes.
