Lady Pioneers Finally Play Again!

The Lady Pioneers soccer team had a Saturday night make-up game with Boone County at Owen Hauck stadium tonight in Florence. The weather on the drive from Independence didn’t look promising but the rain stopped and the teams were finally able to take the field for live game action.

The JV team opened up play with a 0-0 tie with the Lady Rebs although the Pioneers out shot Boone.

In the varsity night-cap, the Lady Pioneers moved the ball around and had their short passing game going. Liz Reilly put the ball on Shay Nienaber’s foot for the first goal of the game which held up as the first half score. The Lady Pioneer s seemed to have no ill effects from having taken off what has seemed like weeks due to the game cancellations. SK would net two second half goals. Lyndsay Figgins knocked in a ball that popped out of a collision with Stephanie Cagle and Boone’s keeper, Brittany Fessler. Give credit to Cagle for the assist. Kelsey Rust played some midfield tonight and claimed a rocket launcher goal after a nice hustle play by Brie Marti.
