The Lady Pioneers continued their preseason winning ways at Soccerama today by besting the Conner Cougars by a score of 3-0. The Pioneers looked strong in the intense heat after capping off an undefeated gold medal performance at the Bluegrass games a couple of weeks ago. Junior Krista Russell scored two goals and Freshman Jessie Cooper scored off a beautiful throw-in from Senior Shay Nienaber. Senior Stephanie Cagle also assisted on one of the Russell goals. The entire SK defense was very solid and prevented Conner from really mounting any offensive pressure. The only downside on the day was Senior mid-fielder Shannon Nienaber finished the game with a back strain.
Things get a little tougher for SK as they start the regular season this Tuesday against Northern Kentucky power Notre Dame. The Pioneers have a lot of senior and junior strength this year and have a chance to have a great season. Good Luck to ALL Lady Pioneer teams this season!
