Lady Pioneers Make Finals of Bluegrass Invitational

Simon Kenton lost to Lexington Lafayette in the Gold Division finals of the 16-team Bluegrass Invitational Tournament in Lexington, 21-25, 20-25. The Pioneers (14-7) went 5-3 over the course of the two-day event, defeating local teams Ryle and Conner, as well as Henderson County, Apollo and Community Christian of Paducah. Simon Kenton fell to South Oldham, also dropping its first meeting with Lafayette, the tournament host and defending champion, on the first day of pool play.

Sophomore middle blocker Kathryn Smith led the Pioneers in the finals with a career-high eight blocks and six kills, many of which were the product of the 17 assists dished out by senior setter Megan Dunn.
