Pioneers Cruise Past Grant County

DSC_6942

The Boys team hosted the Grant County Braves in 32nd District action at the Joe tonight. SK wins by a final of 70-40. Grant County started no player over 6’3” (which seemed like a stretch) and that would spell trouble for the Braves' game. The Braves came out determined and played the Pioneers tough and only trailed SK by 13-7 at the end of one. The problem for the Braves was rebounding as SK out rebounded Grant by a margin of 43-19 for the game. On several possessions, SK would get 3-4 looks at the basket and would eventually convert for 12 second chance points.

SK had 10 different players score tonight led by Josh Hurd’s 23 points. Hurd hit 10 of 13 field goals for a blistering 77%. Josh Elbert put up a nice game with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. For the game, the Pioneers shot 27 out of 49 for 55.1%, as most of their shots came from close range in the paint. SK only attempted 7 shots from long range and connected on one of these.

The Pioneers host Oldham County in a Boy/Girl Double Header at the Joe tomorrow night beginning at 6:00 with the girl’s action. Oldham’s boys and girls were both regional participants last year.

Time to get the party started.
