Pioneers Bigger than Colonels

The Pioneers hosted the Dixie Heights Colonels for a cross county game at the Joe tonight. SK jumped out to a 5-0 lead and 16-8 first quarter lead and never looked back. They stretched the lead out to a 17 point first half lead and cruised to a 69-54 final victory.

The game was billed as a game of the big guys as Junior Luke Mace from Dixie was to go up against SK’s Josh Hurd. SK’s Hurd won the battle inside and posted a nice game featuring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 block shots.

The Pioneers were led in scoring by Mike Hester who scored 23 in the game including 17 in the first half. Josh Elbert netted 15 points and 7 rebounds. For the game, SK won the rebounding battle by a 34-24 margin.

Justin “Charge” Kohrs came in off the bench to draw another offensive foul. Kohrs played hard and physical basketball as his 5 rebounds and 4 personal fouls in under 8 minutes of playing time show.

SK's Hurd used the hook effectively over Mace.
