Pioneers with W versus Colonels on Senior Night

The Pioneers hosted the Cov Cath Colonels tonight on senior night as Cody Chambers, Ryan Mullen and David Stephens were recognized in front of a nice crowd during their last home game at the Joe.

An exciting first half would see the Neers draw even at 37 after they trailed by two after the first. I really thought going into this game that SK would take the W but the Cov Cath defensive effort kept the Neers from getting any type of lead in the first half.

SK came out in the third and had the attitude that they were going claim the game. Cody Chambers would hit back to back treys, in a timeframe of about 30 seconds, that sent the Neers up by 8 points. SK would lead by 6 going into the final frame as they went up 55 to 49.

The 4th Quarter would see the good guys hold the lead in the 8-10 range. However, a 4 point play by Cov Cath would get the lead down to 4 before Riley Barnes would knock down his biggest shot of the night from trey distance to get the lead back up to a comfort lead again; so we thought. Cov Cath was fouling, sending the boys to the line where the home court rims weren’t friendly. SK would get the lead up to 10 with just two minutes to go. Cov Cath would chip and chip away until they only trailed by 4 with 50 seconds left. Finally, the throws started going and SK would escape with an 8 point win and their 5th game in a row, a nice way to finish up senior night.
