For those not familiar with the Campbell attack, they are the polar opposite of Boone County. The Camels pass nearly 90% of the game, and SK did a great job of pressuring one of Northern Kentucky's finest passers, Michael Kramer, forcing him into three interceptions on the night. From the onset the SK defense was running high, sacking Kramer twice during their nine play eighteen yard drive. SK forced CC to punt taking over at their own twenty-six. The blitzkrieg continued as the Neers scored in less than four minutes, a big 38 yard catch by Winkler was later followed by a six yard Lawrence TD run, SK led 14-0.
Apparently the special teamer's didn't want to be left out of the party; on the ensuing kickoff they forced a CC fumble. SK took over at the CC twenty-four and quickly converted the turnover into points when Lawrence spotted a wide open DJ Rabe for the 11 yard score. The two pointer was successful, the lead stretched to twenty-two.
On the next Camels possession, SK's Tyler Spegal intercepted a Kramer pass and returned it to the 18. On the fourth play of the drive, Lockard scored his first rushing TD. SK 29; CC 0. The Pioneer forced a Campbell punt, which set up a short field for the offense, this time it took one play to score, a 32 yard Cory Crane scamper around the right end, Crane's first of the season. SK took a 36-0 lead into the lockers.
Campbell put their first points on the board via the pass with 4:34 left in the half, SK answered with a four play, eighty yard drive. DJ Rabe made the play of the drive, a sixty-seven yard catch, he ended up falling two yard shy of the score but Danny Wetter sealed the deal on the next play. Campbell answered again on a one play strike, all three of these scores occurred in a span of two minutes and three seconds, totaling 218 yards. SK 43; CC 12
The scoring ended early in the fourth quarter, SK leaned on their ground game and added a splash of passing (Winkler 17yd grab), Crane scored his second of the night from three yards out, SK 50; CC 12. The reserves were able to play the final seven minutes under the Friday night lights, always an exciting moment for the young players.
Tonight's win clinched the #2 seed in district six, and means the Tates Creek Commodores will be traveling up I-75 in two weeks. Next week will close out the regular season, the Scott Eagles will visit Chlorine B. Menifee for senior night, come out and support these young men, or catch them on your AM dial.
