Congratulations to Caitlyn Figgins, Chelsea Tolliver and Lyndsay Figgins who publicly announced their commitments to play college basketball yesterday in a ceremony at the SK Auditorium. Chelsea will play locally for Thomas More while the Figgins sisters will attend and play at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, just outside of Lexington. Congratulations and much success to all three of these fine young ladies. As Coach Marksberry announced yesterday, they will be Saints and Eagles in the future but forever Pioneers.
As a side note, I had an interesting conversation with Ms. Whaley recently who was all three girls’ teacher at Piner Elementary. Ms. Whaley told me that while these three girls were at Piner that they would play basketball against the boys everyday at recess. Let’s just say that she told me that the boys would always go back to class mad.
