The Pioneers lost by a final of 50-47 to Campbell County in tonight’s semifinal match at the Ashland Invitational Tournament.
More details coming tomorrow. Here is some info on the tourney and game against Fairview that was sent to me today.
Simon Kenton entered the Ashland Invitational Tournament for the 4th time in school history. They have won the tournament once (98) and lost in the opener or 2nd game the other 2 times.
Simon Kenton (1-3) drew Fairview (6-1) for their opponent in the first round. The first half of the game looked as though SK was going to lay down and let the Fairview run away as Fairview led by 7 points at times. SK only had one lead in the 1st half, 9-7. 1st half score was Fairview 23, SK 19.
The second half was a different story. SK found its defense, tightened up, and started the barrage of 3 pointers, hitting four early in the 2nd half. Fairview had to come out and guard and finally SK could get some rebounds.
2nd half saw 5 ties in the score, and finally Fairview succumbed to SK's free throw shooting in the last minute and half. Barnes, Sorrell, and Bishop hit 6 consecutive ft's to upset Fairview 55-50.
