The Pioneers found themselves in an unknown position last night in the Ashland Invitational Tournament. Early in the 1st quarter they jumped on North Laurel and extended the lead to14 points in the second quarter. SK is used to playing the position of catch-up, but not Monday night, as in the second half SK led by as many as 19 at 62 - 49, late in the 2nd half. Coach Steiner was able to empty his bench for the first time this year in the 4th quarter.
Final score in this game was 74 - 56 as the Pioneers took 3rd place in the tournament. Senior Langdon Barnes and Junior Casey Sorrell were named to the all tournament team. Barnes scored 44 points in the tourney as Sorrell added 41. SK used the long range bomb to put down North Laurel 9 times during the final game.
Campbell County defeated Beechwood to win the tournament.
SK will be in action Saturday, January 3rd at home at 6/7:30, making up a postponed game from earlier in the year.
