Pioneers Win Regional Title...

and make state 6A Semifinals by beating Boone County 14-7 tonight!!! Congrats Coach Marksberry, staff, and players!

The last time SK lost was to Boone County at home. Boone led at half-time 42-0 in that throttle of SK. That loss was the wake-up call that got SK's season going and they haven't lost since.

In the first two playoff games against Lafayette and Conner, it was the offensive punch of SK that stood out. Tonight, it was the defense. SK gave up a touchdown to Boone on their second offensive series and that was it. The SK boys dug in and held from there in a phenomenal effort.

Miles Simpson scored both SK touchdowns. The first one was with about two minutes to go in the first half on a rushing play after a nice SK drive. Simpson got his second in the third quarter when Chad Lawrence rolled out to the right. Simpson blocked, released and was wide open in the left flat. Once Simpson had the ball, everyone on the SK side of the field knew it was 6.

Zach Carroll put the clamps down on the Boone offense by picking off two passes in the last two minutes of the game to preserve the win.

This game was about heart. Kids played hurt and gave it everything they had for the win. It was a blue collar effort for the kids in all white uniforms.

After the game, players, students, parents and fans filed on to the field with hugs flying everywhere. The huge crowd gathered around Coach as he led the post game pep talk.

SK will take on Louisville Male next week in the semifinal game.

Awesome job to everyone involved with the program.

Gotta love those gray long-johns under Neal's football pants. What a warrior he was tonight.
