SK Football Goes Down Big in Season Opener

The Pioneers football team traveled to Newport Stadium to take on the New Cath Thoroughbreds in the Newport Bowl. The game marked the start of the anticipated season for the Pioneers.

Things started off great for the Pioneers. The Pioneer defense got a stop, took over the ball. Miles Simpson took the ball and raced down the New Cath sideline taking the ball down to the New Cath 3 yardline. Two plays later and a 2 point conversion and the Pioneers led 8-0. That was about the end of the good news for SK as New Cath went on to score the next 37 straight points! New Cath scored from the ground, from the air and through their defense following an SK interception that a lineman took in for 6. The Pioneers were able to get a late touchdown that made the final 37-15.

SK will travel to county rival Dixie Heights next Friday as they try and regroup.
