SK Boys Beat Grant County with Strong Third Quarter

The Tip

The SK Boys team hosted the Grant County Braves at the Joe tonight. Grant County came out and put a 4-0 deficit on the Pioneers. The first half of play saw several lead changes and ties. Senior Brandon Maegley kept things close for the Pioneers as he posted 13 points in the first half. SK led at the end of the first quarter by a score of 17-13. Grant closed the game in the second half and tied the score at 28 as the teams headed to the locker room.

Grant County came out of the gate at half-time and scored four quick points to lead by a score of 32-28 within the first minute of the half. That's when the Simon defensive pressure woke up and smothered the Braves. SK went up 38-34 and never looked back. Junior Darien Lanham was the benefactor of several steals and dishes as he scored 8 straight points during the third. Several of Lanham's points came by way of old fashioned 3 point plays. The Pioneers outscored Grant by a 58-25 margin in the second half and cruised to the final score of 86-53.

Maegley led SK with 19 points while Lanham netted 17. MORE PICTURES AVAILABLE AT http://www.flickr.com/photos/figsfotos/sets/72157603462892541/

The boys and girls teams are supposed to play a boy/girl double header tomorrow night beginning at 6:00 although the impending weather threatens these games.
