Pioneer Boys Lose Two Close Games to CovCath

The Pioneer boys Varsity team lost to Covington Catholic 2-1. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first half after Brian King score on a penalty kick late in the first half. The Colonels came back and scored in the second half. The Pioneers got several shots on goal but were unable to score.

The Pioneer boys JV squad lost a tight match to the Covington Catholic JV squad last night. The Pioneers fell behind 1-0 late in the first half, despite steals by Chris Hahnel and strong plays forward by Tanner O’Hara and Dylan Ramsdell. A solid effort by keeper Austin Cagle in the second half held the Colonels scoreless, stopping a number of shots on goal including a brilliant save in the extra time period. Steals by Calvin Patton and Hahnel, a dribble forward up the left sideline by Cody Sterling and a solid shot on goal by Ramsdell failed to tie the game, and the Pioneers fell in their last regular season game and last home game.
