The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 22-9 first quarter lead as Kayla Smith and Jessica Farris each put 8 points on the board. SK converted several easy transition baskets off of defensive steals. SK only scored 18 during the second and third quarters but lead 40-18 after three as Owen shot a miserable 11 for 49 for the game and committed a whopping 27 turnovers against the Pioneer defense. Owen did manage to out rebound the Pioneers by a 40-32 margin.
Chelsea Tolliver led all scorers with 17. Kayla Smith ended up with 15 and Jessica Farris with 14.
The Lady Pioneers will take on the Shelby County Rockets who beat Oldham County tonight by a score of 43-39 in overtime. SK and Shelby split their two games during the regular season. Shelby came out on top in a Christmas tournament game by a score of 52-32 and SK won a triple over-time thriller by a score of 70-66 on January 29th. SK will need to bring their "A" game to come out on top in the rubber game. Shelby is physically very tough inside and has some serious shooters from the outside.

A good sized crowd made it down 75 and 22 tonight. Mr. Pioneer made it out for the game sitting in his normal spot in the first row behind the SK bench.
The Owen County Sumo Wrestling team turned out in support of the home team. In all seriousness, the Owen County folks were very impressive hosts for the tournament tonight.
