The Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers took on the Lady Cats from Walton Verona tonight. WV faced a stiff test as they were missing two of their key players due to injuries.
For the game, SK once again held a 32nd district opponent to under 30 points. The final score from Independence was SK 73 and Walton 21. The Lady Pioneers had 12 different players score and outscored Walton in bench points by a margin of 33-8. The Pioneers were led by Kayla Smith’s 11 points. Smith finished the game by connecting on 3 out of 4 three point attempts. Sam Wormald was the only other Lady Pioneer in double figures as the junior posted 10 points. For the night, SK shot 33/67 for 49.3% and held Walton to 7/32 for 21.9%. In addition to stifling the Lady Cats shooting, the Lady Pioneers also forced Walton into 34 turnovers for the game.
The Lady Pioneers will next see action on Wednesday night at Holy Cross and then on Saturday night at the Joe versus Scott at 7:30.
