SK Girls Finish Second in District Tourney

The girls soccer team battled Calvary Christian this afternoon but came up on the short-end of the scoreboard by a final score of 2-1. The Pioneers came out very strong but just couldn't score. Meghan Gudgeon put a goal on the board in the first half for Calvary but SK Sophomore Krista Russell was able to drill a left footed shot outside of the 18, with the assist from her sister Jill, to knot the score right before half-time. The Lady Pioneers had several good chances to score in the second half including a shot shown in the pic below. Unfortunately, it was Calvary's Wegman who put an instep drive high into the net to put Calvary ahead for good.

The Lady Pioneers take on Ryle Tuesday night at Ryle in Regional Tournament play. SK lost to Ryle 1-0 in the regular season in a game that was only played until half-time and then suspended by lightning.

The keeper didn't come up with this ball but was able to knock it down and keep it out of the net.
