SK Snows Under Dixie

The Neers hosted the Dixie Heights Colonels tonight as a great crowd came out to brave the elements caused by the massive snow storm that forced the cancelling of school today.  (Or something like that I guess.)  What Dixie was greeted to was an avalanche of first half offense as SK comes out and puts a blistering 30 points on the board in the first quarter.  Andrew Sampson scored 15 points in the first quarter as SK grabbed an early lead that they wouldn’t relinquish, jumping out to a 30-13 first quarter lead.

The Dixie D tightened up on Sampson in the second quarter but Riley Barnes was then able to get hot in the period.  SK would extend their lead to almost 20 at the intermission, 46-28 as Sampson finished with 19 in the half and Barnes finished with 11.

The Colonels came out and proved those first few minutes of a half are crucial as they opened the half on a 10-4 run and cut the SK lead down to 12 points, forcing a Simon Kenton TO.  Dixie would outscore SK 19-16 during the quarter but the Neers would still lead 62-47 going into the final frame.

Dixie tried to press in the 4th quarter but it really didn’t cause many problems for SK as the Neers cruise on to an impressive 85-66 victory.  Sampson finished with 29 points and Dixie’s Brandon Hatton finished with 31, many of which came at the charity mark.

The game tonight was sponsored by our friends from NovaCare.  They named Andrew Sampson the player of the game.  My hard hat award for the night goes to Bowling who came up with several nice rebounds, especially in the first half where the game was won.
