First of all, Happy Birthday to Rachael and Ellie who both celebrated their
Sweet 16 birthdays today!
I’ve heard a wise veteran coach at SK say 100’s of times; the
regular season games are nothing more than organized scrimmages. The real season starts once the District
Tournament starts. The girls’ volleyball
team made their 32nd District debut in “real” play making their way
to Grant County for a match-up with the Lady Braves. With all due respect, the Braves were
overmatched but played hard. SK
cruised to the win in three straight sets by double digit points. SK will play in the 32nd District
Final on Thursday at 7:00.
The win assures SK a place
in the 8th Region Tourney but the Neers are going to need to
bring more energy and intensity if they are going to make their first
appearance in the 8th tourney as District Champs. For
SK, playing an opponent where you are the team with the upper hand can be
tough. It didn’t seem like the serves
were as crisp, passes were as accurate or kills as strong. Time to get going, win the District and then go win
the 8th. The girls
definitely have the talent and ability but need to hit the GO button.
