Alright, I’m back from Motown and Mustang Alley ready again
for some v-ball action. As you probably know, the Lady Neers were moved to the 32nd
District and 8th Region for volleyball this year. They took to the road for their first taste
of their new District and Region for a short drive across Route 16 to a match
with the Bearcats of Walton Verona.
The Frosh and JV teams kind of set the tone for the night;
that is, they dug a hole that they needed to bale out of. I wasn’t there for the Frosh match but they
went three long tough games before eeking out the win. Kahlee Fuehner with 4 kills and 1 block, Anna
Cully notched 6 kills and Sarah Sergent returned to action following a shoulder injury to log 11 assists. Sarah Meyer served 8 points in a row in the
3rd game to take the match win for SK. The
JV team was able to win in two sets without need for the third but really didn’t
get any kinds of momentum going that would carry over to the varsity game.
The varsity girls took to the floor and for whatever reason,
just seemed a bit tentative; almost nervous like. They would get a nice run going but then
would break prosperity allowing Walton to sneak back in the match. The girls played just good enough to win and
as they say in the world of sports; a win is a win. Kaitlin Murray, supported by faces in the
crowd, had 10 kills - 3 blocks - 4 aces- 7 digs; Haley Robinson had 7 kills - 4
blocks - 4 aces, Samantha Eudy had 8 kills -5 digs, Sophie Dunn had a whopping 29
assists and Kelsey Henderson had 7 digs.
The girls will take on another 32nd District
opponent as they travel to Williamstown.
Pioneer Family; Ava taking in her first game; guess we know her favorite sport.
A+ on the school spirt.
However...
I'll need a ruling from you Jon on the mixture of 3 different athletic branded apparel items.
Sam Eudy with a smash.
Saralyn Callahan with the tip.
Rachael Figgins with a block in the JV match.
Carson Elliott with a swing in the JV game.
Schmeeadey with eye on the action.
