Tough L for SK at NDA

The Lady Pioneers hit the road for NKAC action as they traveled to Park Hills to play Notre Dame. A great crowd turned out for the game with good crowds there for both teams. SK falls by a final of 50-48. Sorry, my details are a little sketchy on this one as I was into the game a little too much.

In the first quarter, SK jumped out to an 18-11 lead. It didn’t hold up as Notre Dame’s pressure meant turnovers for SK. Notre Dame battled back and tied the game at 27 at the intermission.

Notre Dame came out of the locker room at half and seized the lead by about 5. SK settled down and started forcing NDA turnovers. The Pioneers came back and took a 45-43 lead. SK lost some poise down the stretch and the Pandas turned SK miscues into fastbreak baskets as NDA beat SK back. A couple of untimely 3 point shots stretched the lead to 5. Kayla Smith hit a 3 with two seconds to go. The game came down to execution. Both teams made way too many turnovers but NDA executed in the last four minutes.

No time to rest as SK is back at the Joe tomorrow night for a rematch with Conner. SK won the first meeting at the Lexington Catholic tourney.

A much better fashion statement.

Also, the JV team played their best game of the season and lost by 6 to a very good Notre Dame team. Again, SK led for much of this game as well but just didn’t do the little things down the stretch.
