Lex Cath Wrap-up....

Oh my, did we ever make a mistake. We were feeling a little hungry after the game so we ran across Harrodsburg Road to grab my favorite fast food and tournament sponsor-Chick-fil-a. Critical mistake. We weren’t in the restaurant for more than 30 minutes which ended up costing us about 6 hours of our festive yuletide season. We had no problem making it out of Lexington. Once we hit Georgetown we came to a halt. After they cleared a 5 car pile-up, we were back on the road -almost two hours later. That would be the small delay. Just on the southside of Williamstown, we sat for over three hours. The whole trip took us 7.5 hours; left at 3:15 and got to Atwood at 10:45.

There was a game played before our I-75 ice adventure. SK fell behind 16-2 in the first quarter and spent the rest of the game digging out of the hole. They drew within 7 at 36-29. That would be it as Elizabethtown stretched the lead back out to double digits. SK would get a 3 ball close to the buzzer to trim the final margin to 55-47. Chelsea Tolliver became SK’s all time leading scorer during the game surpassing the previous record by Kelly Tomlin who graduated in 1992. Congrats Chelsea!

The tourney allowed the team to definitely play some of the teams that will be in Bowling Green next March. The one thing that was very apparent to me. There is a lot of parity in girls high school basketball and several of the teams who participated in the tourney have a chance of winning the state next year. SK was right there against two of the best but just couldn’t get over the hump. Congrats on a solid effort.
