SK did a good job of controlling the ball for the second half. However, in the 53rd minute, Villa took a corner kick that took a couple of wicked ricochets and ended up tying the score.
Once the score was tied, the physicality of play turned up as neither team was ready to give up their season. SK got several fantastic scoring chances but was unable to keep the game from going into overtime. Since post season play is here, the format is to play two 10 minute overtime periods. The Villa keeper was doing all he could to keep the Pioneers from scoring. A couple of times, it looked like he was on a trampoline. Finally, with about a minute and half to go in the first overtime period, the keeper tapped one over the goal line. SK gets a corner kick out of the play. SK drilled the ball several times until finally Chris Kentrup is there once again for the Pioneer score. SK holds on the final 10 minute period for the win.
The Pioneers will now take on Scott at 7:30 on Wednesday, October 10th at SK with the winner advancing to the regional tournament.
Also, the JV boys team wrapped up their season by bringing home the 3rd place trophy from the Owen Co. Tournament in a very hot weekend. They won in a shoot out against Dixie in the first game. With a strong defensive effort, including a stop of a penalty kick attempt by keeper Chris Penny, and in spite of numerous shots on goal, the Pioneers fought the Colonels to a 0-0 tie in regulation. In the tie-breaking shootout, goal kicks by Kody Hutchins, Tanner O’Hara, Cody Herald and Dylan Sterling outmatched Dixie’s three goals, with a 4-3 final score. Calvary ended up eliminating the Pioneers in their second game. Kody Hutchins and Anthony Clouse were chosen for All Tournament Team.
Excuse me Mr. Kentrup, you have a hair out of place.

Tyler Blau had a couple of headers that the Villa keeper picked off.

SK put all kinds of pressure on Villa's athletic keeper.
