The SK Lady Pioneers travelled to Lexington Catholic in the pre-dawn hours this morning to take on the state ranked Blue Devils of Lexington Henry Clay in the Lexington Mortgage Panorama. This was SK's first scrimmage of the season. The Lady Pioneers and Devils battled to a half-time tie in a physical scrappy game. Both teams are noted for their defense which wasn't real beneficial for either team's offense. SK stretched a lead in the second half to 8 points but the Blue Devils brought a full court press which forced several SK turnovers. The Lady Pioneers dug in down the stretch and made the plays they had to in order to come out on top 37-34.
In JV action, the Lady Pioneers fell behind in the first half by double digits but brought the Bumble Bee defense in the second half to upend Henry Clay by a point.
Sophomore Chelsea Tolliver took the ball to the basket several times in the second half and helped stretch the SK lead.
